Call of Madness
Xallihion’s ceremorphosis was completed in YK 993, on Kaeperian Island, Xen’Drik. The host creature was a captured female Drow from the Menechtarun desert to the south. The God-Brain looked favouably upon this creature, for Xallihion grew rapidly and developed the third, longer pair of tentacles that mark an Ulitharid, born leaders of Illithid society.
In 5 years, when his growth cycle was complete, Xallihion stood forward to lead his people. He promised them glory, power, and dominion over all of Xen’Drik.
The following year, with no warning, the minions of the Daelkyr begin swarming out of the ever-changing landscapes of the heart of Xen’Drik. They rapidly overcome the defences of the Drow and Giant cities of the south, and the two peoples are eradicated. They next set their sights on the north of Xen’Drik, and begin to amass underneath the waves of the Phoenix Basin.
Infuriated, Xallihion rallies his people to destroy the invading Daelkyr. The Illithids disembark from their island home, and opt to instead set up defences in the city of Stormreach. Xallihion informs the local populace of the battle to come. Many of the humanoids are angry and mistrustful, so they are culled for nourishment. The remainder comply.
The following year, 999, the Daelkyr launch their assault on the city. The siege lasts for 4 years with negligible casualties.
Then Xoriat once again appeared in the sky, and the Masters of Madness came through the vortex created.
In 2 years, the Daelkyr accomplish much, finally overcoming the defences of Stormreach, and flooding the city with the raw energies of madness. Xallihion, his few remaining kin, and a small stock of food escape the city, falling back to the Elven continent of Aerenal, only to find the Aereni already fighting a losing battle. It only takes 3 months to fall from a concentrated Daelkyr assault coming from all sides of the small continent, with Xoriat growing larger in the sky every day. As the continent is razed by the Daelkyr, Xallihion retreats to Khorvaire.
After Ebberon is pulled through the portal, Xallihion fights on the frontlines of battle for the next 6 years, starting in Darguun, then through Zilargo, and into Breland. On the evacuation route, he fought in Boranel’s Last Stand at Marketplace, where the King and his army tried to hold the Daelkyr back as the citizens of his land escaped to the safety of the lightning rail to Thrane.
Knowing the battle for his world was lost, Xallihion made his way onto the last ship to leave the planet, wrapping himself in a protective cocoon and preparing his mind for the larger battle to come.
Xallihion arises and sheds his cocoon years later, when his crashed ship is found and repaired. The destination is Silverymoon, and he disembarks there to gather information and allies from this new world for the next 8 years, knowing the Daelkyr invasion to be imminent. When it finally comes, Xallihion joins Storm Silverhand’s Resistance.
